  • Ocean Isle Beach crime report

    The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department investigated the following incidents and made the following arrests last week. All information is taken directly from patrol incident/investigation reports.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Laurinburg Street. Unknown subject cut a lock off a trailer and stole three extension ladders, two stepladders, two skill saws and two framing guns.

  • District Court Docket

    The following cases were adjudicated over three days of District Criminal Court on April 8, 9 and 13 in Bolivia.

    Wednesday, April 8

    Judge Marion R. Warren presided over the following cases with prosecutor Erin Holden and courtroom clerks Lisa Quick and Michelle Warth:

    Brittany H. Akers, improper equipment, costs.

    Timothy Armakovitch, fail to maintain lane control, prayer for judgment continued and costs.

    Lance Matthew Baker, speeding 74 in a 55 zone, $25 and costs.

    Timothy Easton Barton, improper equipment, costs.

  • Break-in investigated in Sunset Beach

    SUNSET BEACH—Police investigated a break-in and property damage reported April 10 at a home on Westbrook Drive.

    Someone kicked in a front door, rear door, storm doors and rear window at the residence, Sunset Beach Deputy Police Chief Steve Smith said.

     

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit, whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances. The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • K-9 Enforcement Team roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From April 6-12, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 25 calls, made five drug arrests and issued nine citations, including driving while license revoked, no operator’s license and open container.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports.

    •Breaking and entering on Canna Place in Shallotte; suspect lifted victim’s window and tried to enter the house.

    •Breaking and entering to a motor vehicle and larceny on Benton Road in Bolivia; suspect entered victim’s vehicle and stole money, checks and credit/debit cards.

  • Three suspects arrested for marijuana growing operation

    Three suspects have been arrested and charged after Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Agents executed a search warrant at a Supply home.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Capt. Gene Caison, drug agents served a search warrant at 2052 River St. in Fisherman’s Village, where they found an indoor marijuana growing operation.

    The following suspects were charged:

  • Sheriff’s detectives arrest two for boat thefts

    Sheriff’s detectives have arrested two suspects for a slew of boat thefts, and say more arrests are expected.

    Michael Paul Martin, 33, of 130 Shallotte Ave., Shallotte, has been charged with felony larceny, felony conspiracy and possession of stolen goods.

    The following cases were adjudicated over four days of District Criminal Court on April 1, 2, 3 and 6 in Bolivia.

    Wednesday, April 1

    Judge Jerry A. Jolly presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerk and Lisa Quick:

    Douglas W. Alexander, no operator’s license, Brunswick County Jail 30 days, suspended sentence 24 months, unsupervised probation 24 months, $50 and costs, 30 days to pay.

    Marybob W. Anderson, driving while license revoked, voluntarily dismissed.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Endeavor Drive in Ocean Isle Beach; suspect broke victim’s front window and stole three flat-screen TVs.

    •Larceny on Edgeside Drive in Bolivia; suspect stole a grill from victim’s residence.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Jabbertown Road in Southport; suspect entered victim’s front door and stole three fishing rods and reels.
