  • Three suspects arrested for marijuana growing operation

    Three suspects have been arrested and charged after Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Agents executed a search warrant at a Supply home.

    According to Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Detectives Capt. Gene Caison, drug agents served a search warrant at 2052 River St. in Fisherman’s Village, where they found an indoor marijuana growing operation.

    The following suspects were charged:

  • Sheriff’s detectives arrest two for boat thefts

    Sheriff’s detectives have arrested two suspects for a slew of boat thefts, and say more arrests are expected.

    Michael Paul Martin, 33, of 130 Shallotte Ave., Shallotte, has been charged with felony larceny, felony conspiracy and possession of stolen goods.

    The following cases were adjudicated over four days of District Criminal Court on April 1, 2, 3 and 6 in Bolivia.

    Wednesday, April 1

    Judge Jerry A. Jolly presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerk and Lisa Quick:

    Douglas W. Alexander, no operator’s license, Brunswick County Jail 30 days, suspended sentence 24 months, unsupervised probation 24 months, $50 and costs, 30 days to pay.

    Marybob W. Anderson, driving while license revoked, voluntarily dismissed.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office crime report

    Brunswick County Sheriff’s deputies investigated the following incidents last week, which are taken directly from sheriff’s office incident reports:

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Endeavor Drive in Ocean Isle Beach; suspect broke victim’s front window and stole three flat-screen TVs.

    •Larceny on Edgeside Drive in Bolivia; suspect stole a grill from victim’s residence.

    •Breaking and entering and larceny on Jabbertown Road in Southport; suspect entered victim’s front door and stole three fishing rods and reels.

  • Operation April Fools drug roundup suspect list

    The following suspects were charged in connection with last week’s countywide drug roundup, Operation April Fools.

    All information was provided from the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. The suspects and their charges are:

    •Dennis Knight, 57; charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a schedule II controlled substance.

    •Pam Johnson, 32; charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver cocaine.

  • SHALLOTTE CRIME REPORT

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents last week.

    •Police charged David Roy Woods, 23, of 117 Al St., Shallotte, with disorderly conduct. He was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $1,000 unsecured bond.

    •Breaking and entering into a coin-operated device and larceny from a coin-operated device at Black’s Tire; suspect broke into the Coca-Cola machine, causing $500 in damage.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office ACE roundup

    The Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team is a support unit whose primary functions are traffic enforcement and assisting in the apprehension of drug traffickers in the county.

    The ACE team conducts driving while impaired and driver’s license checkpoints, as well as street-level investigations on controlled substances. The ACE team works with the sheriff’s office K-9 Enforcement Team and Drug Enforcement Unit to apprehend narcotics suspects as well as saturating hot spots where criminal activity is reported.

  • Brunswick County Sheriff's Office K-9 Roundup

    The K-9 enforcement team answers calls, conducts driver’s license checkpoints and assists with other agencies when K-9s are needed.

    From March 30-April 5, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Enforcement Team answered 11 calls, made seven drug arrests and issued four citations, including no operator’s license, careless and reckless driving, no insurance and revoked license plate.

    The following cases were adjudicated over five days of District Criminal Court on March 25, 26, 27, 30 and 31 in Bolivia.

    Wednesday, March 25

    Judge Napoleon B. Barefoot presided over the following cases with prosecutor Cathi Radford and courtroom clerk and Lisa Quick:

    Karen Michelle Adams, exceeding safe speed, voluntarily dismissed.

    James Edwards Alford, speeding 64 in a 55 zone, prayer for judgment continued and costs.

    Andrea Elizabeth Allen, improper equipment, costs.

  • SHALLOTTE CRIME REPORT

    Shallotte police charged the following people and investigated the following incidents last week.

    •Police charged Shelby Lynn Horning, 40, of 1969 Cedar Lane, Supply, with driving while impaired and no insurance. She was taken to the Brunswick County Detention Center.

    •Larceny of a leather jacket at Beach House Harley Davidson; suspect walked into the store, put on one of the leather jackets and walked out to his motorcycle without paying for the jacket.
